We have been on vacation. The first part was in Norway, celebrating Christmas with family and I did manage to get my new dress ready the day before Christmas. It is knitted in Rowan Kid Classic. I have not followed the color chart for the “fair-isle” part of the project as I both wanted different color and not to repeat the color identically on each pattern repeat. I’ve also adjusted the needle size and the number of stitches – it has to be something wrong in that pattern for when using the right needle and following the pattern one ends up with something that rather can be used as a tent than a dress. Furthermore I also did make it more fitted than the pattern calls for. I’m quite pleased with the result and it’s going to be my new Christmas dress (and compared to the “old one” – my traditional Norwegian costume (bunad) – no ironing needed).
The last part was a week in southern France visiting friends for a New Year party. Since we are going by car, the trip takes between 12 and 13 hours and I’m the designated co-driver I do need some projects. Thus I brought along a daytime knitting project and one “after dark” project. Part of our driving will be after dark and since the light inside of the car is not that “bright” enough to continue pattern knitting with relatively close color I do need to bring something easy.
My “day-time” project is a sweater I have longed to knit the last year, but haven’t started it until now. It’s from winter 2007 Rowan Magazine, knitted with woolcotton and kidsilk. I’m using the Norwegian round-needle knitting method (and not the fair-isle method). It is turning out great isn’t it?
And finally - something extra - showing Pinneguri progres :-D
